Pay Per Click - or PPC - is exactly what it sounds like: you pay a fee to the search engine to place you in a highly visible position. With major PPC providers like Yahoo or Google they list your ad along side the natural search results. When a user clicks on your ad, you pay a small fee based on where your ad is appearing. You generally will pay more per click for an ad that is listed higher in the results, and less for one that is lower.
